When it comes to home insurance, there are several divisions to consider. Homeowners insurance, condo insurance and renter’s insurance each provide unique coverage specifics and varied rates.

Homeowners Insurance

Whether you own your home outright or have mortgage, you need a homeowners policy. In the simplest of terms, homeowners insurance covers the structure and built-in components of your home, the contents within your home, and you and your family if someone is injured on your property or because of your actions.

  • Dwelling coverage, or dwelling insurance, is the part of your policy that covers the physical structure of your home. This protects you against certain natural disasters like hail or wind damage and against other events such as fire or vandalism. In addition to structures like your wall, ceilings and foundation, dwelling coverage covers some installed appliances and systems such as plumbing.
  • Contents coverage protects damage to your personal belongings, usually in the same vents covered by dwelling insurance. This means damage or loss to your clothing, jewelry, electronics, appliances, and other specified items damaged from fire, vandalism, etc. Contents coverage requires careful record of all that you want protected; a process our agents can guide you through.
  • Personal liability coverage protects you when someone is injured on your property (or because of you or a family member’s actions off your property). It also reimburses the cost of damage to their property and can provide coverage for legal representation if you are sued. If someone falls on your property and is injured, for example, personal liability kicks in to cover the cost of medical expenses, up to your limits.

It is important to note that homeowners policy is not one size fits all, nor does it provide coverage for all types of incidents. It typically does not cover certain long-term medical costs, for example, from your personal liability, and it does not include flood insurance, which is a separate policy.

Condo Insurance

Condo insurance is a smart investment if you live in a condo within a complex. While your condo association likely carries coverage for common areas within your building and may provide coverage for the structure of your condo itself, you may not be fully protecting. We can create a contents coverage and personal liability policy to cover the loss of any of your belongings in an unexpected event and to protect you if you are personally liable for property damage or injury to another.

Renters Insurance

Much like condo insurance, renters insurance is designed to protect you and the belongings held within your rented home or apartment. Renters insurance is very affordable with great coverage limits. While you may not be responsible for the home you rent, you can protect all your valuable property within it.
